I had a great weekend. Spent some time with my daughter and watched her first recital at ballet school… she did not have the heart to actually walk onto stage, but she did make an appearance, I think the excitement of the day and the audience was a little too much for her. Shame, I know how that feels.
Today Seb and I just headed out to do a bit of play. No pressure, nothing to prove, just some nice images made with new gear. My Saberstrips really impressed me and I’ll have to spend a bit more time really learning how to use them well. Here are a few more from the session…

One of my goals for today was to achieve a sense of balance between the ambient and my flash. I think I have a ways to go still but i totally love the result of these. Working in harsh conditions like direct afternoon sun is always a challenge, and i didn’t want to kill the sky so was left with only 1 option: HSS. The saberstrips really did a great job.

This is my favourite shot of the day and I love the light. This was taken just as the sun was setting and the last light of day was creeping over the top of the buildings in the background. This style of shot has long been a strong focus of my work but not so much recently… i think i need to bring it back into my workflow because i love it… and today just reminded me of it.
All in all, it was a great day. Thanks to Seb for coming out and letting me shoot some portraits… I hope you also go some good shots… I was not looking my best.
Have a good day!
A.
